Solution – Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item
Today our IT team received a software setup from one of our client. When we tried to open the same software setup, we got a error message – “Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item“. We tried repeatedly to double click the file to open it, but it fails. We also tried renaming the filename, but still it gives same error message.
Solution
After few minutes of investigation, our IT team came up with the required solution for the error message we are facing. Here are steps listed to overcome avobe error.
Right Click software setup and select Properties.
In Properties screen you will see a button named “Unblock”
Click on Unblock button and then Click Apply and OK.
And now try to open or run the software setup. It will work .
